Bladensburg Waterfront Park Engagement | Bladensburg MD

One of my favorite aspects of every engagement session is being able to include an important aspect of the couple’s story. For Henry and Alexandria, the perfect place for their engagement session was Bladensburg Waterfront Park, where they met in college at coxswains for the University of Maryland crew team.

The two of them went down memory lane together as we saw some of their old boats. They told me about their favorite boats and reminisced about getting up before dawn with their team to get on the water. We explored around, finding plenty of unique areas to create images. I loved using the leading lines of the shells and kayaks, as well as the viewpoint from a bridge that gave an expansive view of the entire park.

It was an easygoing time with the two of them and I loved getting the chance to connect before their wedding in May. Engagement sessions are the best time to get to know your photographer and we always love learning more about our couples at their engagement. But on top of that, we get the chance to create some pretty unique imagery that wouldn’t be possible on the wedding day. Being able to visit the place where you first met your significant other and think back to how it all started for a few hours is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

The last set of photographs we made together was right on the boardwalk leading out over the water, just as the sun was starting to dip below the tree line. I had been waiting all of the session for that time to come and when it did we were given some truly beautiful light. Henry and Alexandria rested in each others arts, taking it all in and looking forward to their life to come.
