Los Angeles Wedding | David and Rebekah

One of the most exciting things for me as a photographer is to be able to create in a totally new environment. For David and Rebekah's wedding that is exactly what I got!

Their wedding was held at the First Congregational Church of Los Angeles, a huge, beautiful Gothic cathedral just west of downtown Los Angeles California. One feature of California weddings that I love is that you've got an excellent chance for a warm sunny day! We had 70 degrees and blue skies in March! A bit different from the DC area this time of year.

David and Rebekah's wedding day started out with getting ready at the hotel, followed by last minute prep at the church before the ceremony. Throughout the day I loved seeing how important people are in David and Rebekah's life. They took extra time to be with family and to visit with friends during the reception. But that sure didn't stop them from dancing into the night!

Some of my favorite moments were seeing Rebekah interact with her father. It's clear that they have a very deep and special relationship. They danced during the reception to "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," sung by Merle Haggard. What at first seemed like an odd choice quickly became a tear-jerker for everyone, most of all for Rebekah. For her this isn't just a song, this is the song that as a child her father would sing to her each morning as she woke up.

It was those kinds of special touches that made this day even more special for them and for me as I photographed their wedding.

The day after the wedding we made our way to the Santa Monica mountains for a chance to capture some unique portraits. Rebekah was a trooper hiking in her wedding dress! We made it up high enough to see a grand view of the valley and the clouds lying low over the ocean.
