Washington DC Engagement Session | Susan and Aniket

My number one engagement session tip for couples? Be yourselves.

At Susan and Aniket's engagement in Washington DC, they did just that. We started out at the National Portrait Gallery and my instructions were to be as goofy, silly, serious, or random as they wanted. This usually meant that Aniket got Susan to laugh out loud.

I loved seeing their interaction and the relationship they have built over the years. The National Portrait Gallery provided us with interesting architecture, patterns, shapes, and light, all around inspiring art! It's a great place to shoot.

Next we took to the Mall, starting at the Washington Monument and walking to the Lincoln Memorial. We hit a few sidetracks along the way; I always welcome diversions when inspiration strikes.

Some of my favorite images came at the very end of the evening when they were silhouetted against the Lincoln Memorial with a beautiful multi-colored sky. It was a great way to end the day. Enjoy my favorites below!
