Faces of the Civil War

Personal

While photographing the Manassas Civil War Weekend I became engrossed by the details of the reenactors. They went to great lengths to tell the stories of people from long ago.

Alongside the event photos, these images are portraits that I captured of some of the reenactors. At first I was simply in awe of the amazing beards, as there were some very impressive ones! But as I went I became more fascinated by what I started to think of as “the face of the civil war.” These reenactors did an amazing job of playing the part, and I believe they give us a great look into what people of that time period were like.

I don’t take it lightly when you invite me into your story.

After 10+ years and hundreds of weddings, this remains true: it all starts with trust, connection, and a shared belief that this really matters.

Whether we’re hiking through Shenandoah, gathering with your people downtown, or in the backyard of a beloved home, I’m there to notice what’s sacred and make it last. I aim to capture the kind of photographs that don’t just look beautiful, but genuinely reflect you and the life you’re creating.
