Peter and the Wolf
As someone who has been heavily involved in the arts for most of my life, it is always a joy to photograph other artists.
In the case of this performance by the Manassas Ballet Theatre, I was up close to the performers while they danced and beside them when they were back stage sweating and breathing heavily from intense exertion. The complete control of their body on stage speaks to the demanding nature of ballet and the incredible skill these dancers have.
To view or purchase the color images from this incredible performance, visit Prince William Living magazine, on whose behalf I was photographing this performance.
The evening began with Diana and Actaeon and Vivaldi's Four Seasons, then switched to the tale of Peter and the Wolf. While I loved the rich, beautiful colors throughout the performance, I was intrigued by a black and white portrayal of the first half of the performance before Peter and the Wolf. This reduced the images to pure shapes and tones carried by motion. Enjoy those images below.
