River Farm Wedding | Alexandria VA | Joey and Caroline
I first got to work with Joey and Caroline for their engagement session early this year. In fact, they were my first photo session of 2019! However, I first met Joey and Caroline at a wedding I photographed last year in DC. Through it all I’ve seen how generous and kind they are to everyone they meet, and how deep a bond they have with each other.
Their day started off at the Hilton in Alexandria where we captured their time getting ready for the wedding. I loved being able to capture fun candid moments between Caroline and her bridal party, as well as Joey and his guys as they faced the challenge of tying real bow ties!
We moved to River Farm midday and caught beautiful moments as Caroline finished getting into her dress and everyone around her saw her fully ready for the first time. River Farm is the home of the American Horticultural Society and a wonderful place in autumn. Joey and Caroline wanted to have their wedding there not just because they are nature lovers, but because they wanted to support the work of the Horticultural Society. Fall was just truly getting started, with only a few trees having turned orange, red, and brown. But those few trees were plenty for us to get incredible fall images!
The day continued with a lush garden ceremony, portraits around the grounds, and a high energy yet relaxed reception. One of the features I love about River Farm is that guests can be on the dance floor, or enjoy conversation with others in any one of the many areas River Farm as available. It’s truly a venue everyone can enjoy and no one ever feels left out.
Enjoy the photo story below, and a big thanks to all the vendors who made this day a success!
