Wedding at Woodlawn Farm
Driving in to Blake and Taylor’s wedding at Woodlawn Farm in Ridge, Maryland, felt like a breath of fresh air. With a mile long driveway along a gravel road lined with lush fields on either side, I drove and felt stress melt away. I was excited to move into a relaxed, documentary focus that day.
Woodlawn Farm is a 400 year old property situated right along Calvert Creek with a view out to the Potomac River. It’s a stunning setting, especially when sunset came gleaming over the water. The manor house feels elegant, yet homey and comfortable, with each room having it’s own unique décor. One of the primary benefits for everyone is that spaces, from the ceremony to the reception are very close to one another, enabling easy movement throughout the day. Taylor shared that “we love that Woodlawn has the space for everyone to get ready without having to run all over the place to different locations.” Removing friction like that on your wedding day is key to being as fully present as possible.
I never want to fake moments, so I was very grateful that everyone felt able to be themselves. Some of my favorite images included both moms laughing together, Taylor and her Dad sharing a quiet moment, and crafting beautiful landscape portraits along the waterfront.
Thank you to Blake and Taylor for trusting me with your once-in-a-lifetime images!
