Meet the Aldenderfers, a beautiful young family with a new addition! Their young daughter was just beginning to run around and be fully mobile, so it was the perfect time for them to come together for a fun family lifestyle session.

It was the beginning of fall; autumn colors were just starting to appear on the trees. We began the session at a small park just minutes from their home, at a place where everyone could run around and simply have fun together. Even grandpa and grandma got in on the session, which made everything that much easier and more enjoyable!

But the focus of their session was to capture images of them in and around their home. This is one of my favorite ways to do a family lifestyle session as it brings so much context, familiarity, and natural beauty into the images. Around the outside of their home we used the trees, foliage, the new fall color, and other elements to help tell their family story. Inside we played, we read, and we jumped around on the bed! It was a relaxed, easy way to make it a carefree, comfortable session for everyone.

As a husband and a father with two little boys, I know how difficult it can be to have little ones be engaged in a photo session. Usually it’s the last thing they want to do! But with this lifestyle approach we were easily able to keep it enjoyable and fun, getting some wonderful memories in the process.
