 River Farm Engagement

Lately I feel like I have been having the best weather imaginable for engagement sessions, and Charlie and Holly’s engagement in Alexandria was no different! These two wanted to have a session in an outdoor environment. We looked at locations around the DMV area but landed on River Farm in Alexandria and happened to get one of the most beautiful spring days.

River Farm is the home of the American Horticultural Society and is full of lush trees and flowers. We walked among the gardens and the fields, finding plenty of areas for beautiful moments. But we didn’t stop there, we also visited a local park to get a waterfront view as the sun lowered in the sky.

Throughout the session it was easy to get natural expressions from Charlie and Holly. They are big fans of hiking and exploring, so these two sites were the perfect places for them to feel comfortable, as if they were on a date together. That is one of my biggest goals in any session. We aren’t just getting pretty photos, but images that show your personalities, photos that are meaningful. Exploration and adventure, whether in on a mountaintop or in a city, helps you feel at ease and gives you a good sense for what your wedding day photography will be like.

I’m excited to capture them wedding later this year, but until then, enjoy their photo story below!

I don’t take it lightly when you invite me into your story.

After 10+ years and hundreds of weddings, this remains true: it all starts with trust, connection, and a shared belief that this really matters.

Whether we’re hiking through Shenandoah, gathering with your people downtown, or in the backyard of a beloved home, I’m there to notice what’s sacred and make it last. I aim to capture the kind of photographs that don’t just look beautiful, but genuinely reflect you and the life you’re creating.
