UVA Engagement Session | Charlottesville VA | Josh and Shannon
This past fall, I had the opportunity to photograph an engagement at the stunning campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Josh and Shannon are both UVA grads and wanted to commemorate their time at the place where they their relationship grew so much.
We were lucky to have outstanding colors to photograph alongside the brilliant architecture of UVA. I was excited to showcase the varied grounds, with everything from their elegant and grand buildings to the lush garden walkways. Throughout the session, Josh and Shannon reminisced of their joyful time at the university, and looked forward to their wedding ahead of them.
I found it easy to coax Josh and Shannon into situations that felt natural and unassuming. Although they admitted that it felt strange to be photographed, it soon became second nature to them. They had an easy way with each other; walking, laughing, and forgetting the camera. This is exactly what I want for my couples, I want everyone to have an adventure and be able to be in the moment as much as possible. I provide direction to help you feel at ease so you know what to do, then I let you go to enjoy your time as a couple.
My favorite shots of the session came when Josh and Shannon were willing to lie on the ground! I’m always grateful when couples are willing to try something different. From a safe place high in a tree I was able to get images that I felt truly captured them, and showcased the height of fall in one of their favorite places.
I’m grateful to Josh and Shannon for allowing me to document this time in their life, including their wedding! Enjoy their photo story below!
