The time we have with family is infinitely valuable, but it’s especially valuable with the older generation. This is something I’ve been thinking about as I get older myself.
On your wedding day I make sure to document any grandparents and any older generation in attendance. Years from now, when the gift of time has expired and you’re flipping through your album, these images will remind you of who and what mattered. These people, no matter the relationship you had with them, are the reason you are here. They are your history and you are their legacy.
Hopefully we’ll have the honor of looking like them one day, old, wrinkled, experienced, weathered, grateful for a life well lived. The time you have with them now is such a gift. Go treasure it.
