engagement at navy yards park washington DC

Sam and Jamie knew they wanted to have their engagement session in Washington DC, but they didn’t want something standard. They wanted to find a new place, somewhere they could explore freely with their dogs and spend a carefree evening together.

I met Sam and Jamie at the Navy Yards park in DC, knowing that this would be a place that would give us a variety of feelings, backgrounds, and also be a relaxing place to spend the afternoon. It was the perfect summer night in DC, just barely cool, with warm diffused light that made my job easy!

We walked around the Navy Yards waterfront, finding interesting architecture as well as lush natural settings. Sam and Jamie were all-in, ready to try anything, which gave us a few truly unique photos. I encouraged them to enjoy a relaxed time together, soaking in the reality of their relationship and their wedding to come!

Adventures don’t always have to happen on a mountaintop, and Sam and Jamie proved it! Check out my favorites from their session below, and if you liked this, check out more engagements on the blog!

I don’t take it lightly when you invite me into your story.

After 10+ years and hundreds of weddings, this remains true: it all starts with trust, connection, and a shared belief that this really matters.

Whether we’re hiking through Shenandoah, gathering with your people downtown, or in the backyard of a beloved home, I’m there to notice what’s sacred and make it last. I aim to capture the kind of photographs that don’t just look beautiful, but genuinely reflect you and the life you’re creating.
