Lincoln Memorial Engagement | Josh and Emily

Engagement

Do you remember that day in the middle of November, the one with the wind? If you were outside, you know which day I’m talking about.

As I was looking for a parking spot near the Tidal Basin an incredible wind came over the Potomac and swept across DC, lifting every downed leaf and hurling it sideways! Bags worth of leaves filling the street gutters were all at once thrown by a 40-50 mph wind! What a way to start an engagement!

Josh and Emily weren’t fazed at all by the strange weather conditions. We had to get creative to hide from the wind, taking to the side of the Lincoln Memorial in the image above. That also kept us away from the hundreds of other people visiting the memorial that day!

The skies were a dark blue, the wind was howling, temperatures were constantly dropping, and rain came in right near the end, but this was a fantastic engagement session at the Lincoln Memorial! If Josh and Emily were this fun for their engagement session in crazy weather, I can only imagine the fun we’ll have on their wedding day next year!

I don’t take it lightly when you invite me into your story.

After 10+ years and hundreds of weddings, this remains true: it all starts with trust, connection, and a shared belief that this really matters.

Whether we’re hiking through Shenandoah, gathering with your people downtown, or in the backyard of a beloved home, I’m there to notice what’s sacred and make it last. I aim to capture the kind of photographs that don’t just look beautiful, but genuinely reflect you and the life you’re creating.
