 Alexandria wedding photography

It’s been a busy fall with lots of weddings in a lot of unique venues, but Andrew and Kristen’s wedding was one of the most unique I’ve seen this season. Their wedding was in the backyard of a home in Alexandria Virginia.

When you hear “backyard wedding” you might think of something unorganized, an event thrown together last minute. That could not be farther from the truth! Kristen took everything into account when planning her wedding and had every detail covered.

Their dancing was underneath a large covered pavilion, guests sat at beautiful wooden tables decorated for fall, lights hung from trees all around the yard, and much more. My favorite detail of the night was pizza cooked on site in a huge wood-fired pizza oven!

Andrew is a member of the Navy and wore his dress blues for the ceremony. At the end when he and Kristen walked back down the aisle after their first kiss their way was ceremonially blocked by four Navy brothers in blues blocking the way with swords! Fortunately, all that was needed to get by was a kiss.

The swords came back out when it was time to cut the cake, and the dance floor was packed all night! I’m thrilled to have been able to capture this intimate backyard wedding, all the best to Andrew and Kristen! Enjoy their photo story below!
