Mayflower Hotel Wedding | Washington DC | Tommy and Dhania

What a summer! Coming to Tommy and Dhania’s wedding at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC was the end of a long string of summer weddings, vacations, and adventures. Over the last two months I’ve hiked to the top of Old Rag in the Shenandoah National Park, photographed weddings in the mountains and the city, spent many days covering conferences and photoshoots, and enjoyed countless hours exploring and creating memories with my family. I arrived at Tommy and Dhania’s wedding feeling ready and excited.

I knew from the start that this was going to be a unique wedding in one particular way. We weren’t going to leave the building! We did leave for about 15 total minutes of photos outside, but that was as long as we could stand up to the extreme summer heat and humidity. It was a blessing that every aspect of their wedding day was indoors.

The day started for me with the details. Everything from Dhania’s shoes to Tommy’s Cowboys cuff links. One of my favorites details was the wax seal on the back of their RSVP, which was the Hogwarts crest, an homage to their love for the Harry Potter movies. Next up was their ceremony, which included a heartwarming welcome speech by Tommy’s parents. The sheer excitement right after the ceremony was something I loved being able to capture.

The interior of the Mayflower hotel gave us plenty of DC style to work with for photos before and after their ceremony. Tommy and Dhania have a joy together that is amazing to experience so we had an easy time creating beautiful authentic moments together. At the end of it all they partied and celebrated to one of my favorite wedding bands, the Bachelor Boys!
