“People book you for how you see the world, not because you take beautiful photographs.” This is a quick thought this morning, spawned by that quote from Reni Maria.
In short, I could not agree more. It’s a sentiment I share on my discovery call with new clients, that “it’s easy to take pretty photos.” Modern camera tech has made this effortless.
What’s harder and I think much more satisfying is to notice and preserve instants of depth, emotion, and story. Those are what matter, those are what will last.
I’m watchful for occasions like that, but also warry, knowing that they won’t happen if I try to force them.
If I try to plan for magic, it will flee from me. The key is to not let the magic know I’m there, or if it knows I’m there, assure it that I’m a friend. Let the magic have its way, just follow where it leads.
