My Summer Recap and What Matters Most?

How do you keep what matters most front and center when there are so many things pulling you away?

At this point, we’ve moved through all of our major summer family activities. Summer camp, beach vacation, family trips, hosting friends, birthdays, and more. And in the middle of it our twins are nearing nine months old.

That’s wild to me.

I’ve been grateful for a fairly slow wedding schedule this summer, allowing for deeper connection with family and friends. I didn’t feel the pull away from family that I sometimes can. There was naturally more space, but I also made sure to maintain that space wherever I could.

I think there is a similar pull that couples can feel as they plan and approach their wedding. There are SO many things vying for your attention, so, it’s an important time to pay attention to what you pay attention to.

It can be helpful to ask:

What could distract me from enjoying what matters most in this this season of my life?

For couples getting married, what would make the time leading up to your wedding day more enjoyable and meaningful?

And what can you keep front and center to remind you of what matters most about your wedding experience?

Those are the kinds of questions I tried to ask myself this summer. I didn’t do it perfectly, I felt guilt from “getting behind” and got distracted here and there. But I moved forward each time and keep family front and center. Apart from keeping on top of upcoming fall weddings, it was good to let work take a bit of a back seat.

As the summer comes to a close, how could you remind yourself of what matters most this fall?
